Therapist for RIO

About Colette

I have been a nurse for 29 years and a General Practice Nurse for over 20 years. Many years ago I realized that I needed to learn new ways of helping people to change. Just telling people to lose weight, stop smoking, eat 5 fruit or vegetables etc wasn’t working. So I self funded my way through many training events that have enhanced my work in helping people to change. I now work as a therapist for RIO (Rotherham Institute of Obesity) and as a practice nurse in Sheffield.

Many patients I see have become stuck and feel unable to change. By utilizing various therapeutic approaches such as; NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and MI (Motivational Interviewing) to enable people to build upon their own strengths and resources to tackle problems and move forward positively in other areas of their lives.

I have been involved in obesity work for over 17 years. Alongside my colleague Clare Liversidge, we have developed and deliver Foxhill Fat Fighters, which is a 5 week course that has been running for over 7 years, to successfully help people lose weight.

Presently I am completing an MSC in weight management.

I have developed and delivered training courses in a range of different settings including: The NHS, private dental practices, schools, local authorities, the fitness industry and with the general public. I deliver workshops and courses for patients regularly for RIO and in General Practice. I also regularly assist on NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner courses.
